It was a happening Chinese New Year and everything seems to be just fine, even on the first page of newspaper but it won't be the same once u flip over the pages. Everything changes drastically and it is not easy for everyone to cope with it. Its getting more and more cyclical unemployed workers around Malaysia and now its reported that more retrenchments will be executed mostly on manufacturing sectors slowing down the GDP of the country.
The most recently, The Bank Negara has issued RM2Bil of government bonds to public. although it says its for the retires and it might sounds good for publicity but kinda think of it, Bank Negara is not supposed to sell government bonds especially at this moment, recession. The issuing of government bonds reflects the liquidity of the Federal Reserve and it's a market signal that Malaysia is no longer doing good. Although the Federal Reserve levered the interest rates to encourage foreign investments and tourism, what makes a difference if the living expenses is still that high.
Everyone is squeezing themselves among others to get a job in Singapore. Even Singapore is not doing well, the government has sufficient federal reserve to enact a $13.6Billion stimulus to boost up economy and maintain the currency. Even Malaysia used$7Billion to stimulate the rates. Will this last? Can they do that forever. Pumping money into money market its like pouring the money into a blackhole and no economist can prove that stimulus is guaranteed working. Even Warren Buffet have to think twice before any actions nowadays.
There seems to be nothing i can do about it, since I'm just an ordinary student trying to graduate this year. Hopefully. All i can do is to pray for everyone that everyone goes fine with good health and happy go lucky! In few more days, I'll be leaving to Miri to continue my summer course yet i still have not finish all the NICE food in IPOH!!
Tomorrow is Friday and it will be a good day for workers that they can rest for the weekends! and hope everyone rested well for the holidays!
p/s: who wanna go LUK LUK 12am later???? for further information, please call me at
012-52xxxxx. Thanks =D

The First day of Chinese New Year
2 commentsIt wasn't the same as before. It doesn't used to be like one before. Still I'm glad that i managed to reach Ipoh before Chinese New Year starts. Oh well, Chinese New Year is always the most happening festival in Ipoh as there are many Cantonese people living around here.. Remember the history during secondary school where they splits the Gee Hin and Hai San tribes into twos.. the Hokkiens and Hakka's are now divided into to places, one is Sitiawan for Hokkiens and Ipoh for Hakka's.. and observably they speak their own dialects. Although I'm living in Ipoh here, its hard for me to speak Hakka too because everyone here speaks Cantonese! Even the teachers in staff rooms during secondary school speaks Cantonese among themselves.
Yep, that's enough of "History of Ipoh".. Now, the Chinese New Year begins with an advertisement that is being shot at Ipoh!
The shop selling bird is one of the famous streets in Oldtown Ipoh where many older generations like to play mahjong there. Cant really remember the name of that street but it's near Kinta River and after a few shops just right opposite the bird shop is the place where i attended my flute classes during my secondaries. Everytime i walk by the roads passing by the herb shop of my friend, everytime after schooling hours, with my flute bag to the music learning center. Ive been spending 5 years time learning how to play flute and i didn't get to continue my lessons after i went to university life. It's such a waste that i can't pursue my interest on Chinese flute and even now, youngsters are now more to rock, jazz, pop and R&bs but not traditional musical songs anymore. It's more like a forgotten piece of the music and not many people actually knows how to enjoy it anymore.
It used to be, everytime before Chinese New Year, me and my gangs will practice Chinese New year songs to be performed in stages for New Year celebration. I can still reckon the fun performing in stages in Parkson Grand and Jaya Jusco. It was fun playing music with orchestras and I'm quite satisfied that I've succeed a inter-school musical competition for my year. It was a great achievement and will never regret joining Chinese Orchestra for 5 years. The most fun part about it is that i won over the competitor from Ave Maria Convent girls but still I've lose to Sam Tet School and i got 2nd place.. Till today the trophy is still being kept nicely in room, never forget the olden days.It never happens anymore after entering Curtin University to pursue my studies, but sometimes its nice to hang out with the orchestra members in Ipoh. Looks like they are gonna plan something on Friday too!
8am..
KNOCK KNOCK! Wake up!!
woke everyone up on that day because its Chinese New Year!! get dressed.. i wonder why we have to wear new red clothes on the first day of Chinese New Year.. and started to be stubborn and wear something different. haha
And... my "YOYO" cousin Yeeling.
Kiao Ban - Hakka food(only got to eat these during Chinese New Year, must eat with Chili Padi!)
Red Bean Tong Sui..(its red bean tong sui with 陈皮 and 芦荟aloe vera cubes)
They get those aloe vera just behind their house. Nice Tian Mi Mi~
NOT!! it doesnt end like this.. we have been playing mahjong and Jinami till late night and most of them are big Winners of Day one! Playing cards while drinking tong sui (莲子百合) lotus seed with fungus nice~! Eat almost everytime, everywhere doesn't seems to be a good plan. Stop eating peeps!! haha

p/s: i'm gonna win you all even on day 2 or day 3...... Muahahaha!!!

Chinese New Year Eve

I'm supposed to be there few days earlier than it should be, somehow things happened for reasons. At first, I've got my flight delayed and this is what AirAsia always do. Even AirAsia do some cost cutting by squeezing both similar flight times together and informed the passengers that there will be some technical errors. This always happens to them especially the night flights. Just can't afford for the morning flight where i get the same services, still i have to more if i choose the morning flights. Yeah.. it was a pretty cozy flight, not many passengers in the flight but i can see many Curtin students on the flight too. Everyone seems to be busy flipping their notes to get themselves revised before the Chinese New Year.. Even our typical lecturer gave us a BIG ANGPOW...
Oh.. lets go back to LCCT ... I've been waiting at there for 2 hours and continue my studies at Coffee Bean while drinking the latest promotion drink for Chinese New Year.. The Read Bean Prosperity. It was nice thou but then I'm not a fan of red beans.. In the meanwhile, i called my friend in the morning...Tony : Omg.. Where???
Sweeling : On the way back to ipoh! ive been stucking here quite some time already!
Tony : Seriously??? which part of highway???
Sweeling : All the way from Simpang Pulai to Ipoh! walaoeh..........
Tony : Omg... im gonna use that road back to ipoh too... so dead this time.. im gonna be late
back to ipoh... Delayed again. NOT at THIS TIME?!?!
Thanks to Star Shuttle, it only takes 2.45 hours for the bus to reach Ipoh.. compared to Yoyo Bus it will take about 4 hours to reach... and i rested for the day..

-死过返生-
4 comments

0 comments

Week 2
0 commentsWhether we like it or not, its now the second week of summer course. Things had been going tougher and tougher. Till today I'm still striving here trying my best. Exam is just right at the corner and I am still hanging around with friends to explore the Miri Town almost.. all the time.
That's the issue people were discussing about for the last week. Its flooding here and there. Since inm studying in Miri, ive started to read some Borneo Post and found out there were more places flooded in Sarawak : Samarahan , Sri Aman etc etc.. (dunno where is it anyway haha). The worst part is our campus pond had flooded with gillons of water and the pond looks like a beach now.. There you go Curtin students, we present you the new Curtin Indoor water park!

It has been raining everyday and its hard to get up early for the morning classes but its challenging and fun about the unit im taking now... 6 Chapters every week and everyone only have less than one week to study whole 11 chapters for the coming mid term. Group studies is the best way to get over this and yes!! right after exams i'll be going back to Ipoh to celebrate Chinese New Year. This year will be a little bit different from previous year because im going back on 8th day of CNY.. gonna missed the Chap Goh Mei fooooodd..... AAHHH
Back to serious business, our government will enact monetary policy to boost up economy by holding foreign reserves. Still its not that effective as the foreign direct investments (FDI) will experience a slow growth of 10 percent throught the year. From time to time, the government will try to absorb the foreign currencies by encouraging foreigners to visit Malaysia to lever the tourism market. Recession sounds bad for veveryone but its the best time to invest on mutual funds and government bonds. Buying mutual funds for long term investment is highly recommended IF you have excess money since theres a convergence of bid-ask spread.
5 Days
5 Days till exam begin
6 Days till my journey back to Ipoh
7 Days till Chinese New Year!!

Summer Course 2009
0 commentsIt has been a long holiday during the summer till i had all my days and dates being mixed up. It was a substantial yet meaningful holiday. I've been joining a gym for a month just to fill up my time and hey it's not really that hard to exercise. It's good to have exercise there where you can socialize with other people working out there. I can see the potential of young workers, they were in office wear bringing along with their exercise suit not skipping any chances to exercise. I've got myself fit into the social part and met some people, even people who work in Hospital Fatimah, and my instructor is a commissioner. I really had a great time exercise with other people, encouraging each other to keep it up.
.
.
.
.

Back to serious business here, lecturer had been mumbling. Not even one student can't recall any financial issues happened in year 2008. This is what the lecturer ask all the time on the first lecture. Lehmen Brothers was the first one, that causes Sub prime mortgage crisis, leads to a increment of interest rates throughout the world. Then inflation came in leading to another big issue, the world economy meltdown hits hard on Malaysia manufacturing industry . Economist had also forecast that in most optimistic situation is that the recession will start to kick back during mid of the year while the pessimistic situation would last till end of year 2010. This might sound terrifying for those who are seeking for jobs now. Guess everyone had a hard time through the year.
Thanks to the increased petrol price, creating a long term effect on Malaysia economy, knowing that the demand for petrol will always be at constant level. Now, everyone have to suffer the consequences by facing inflation despite you like it or not. There must be something the reserve bank can do about it, we'll just have to wait and see..
Talking about today, i had the MOST studying hours of all time, forcing myself to be at common reading area at 9am and it continues. A 6.2 hours of lecture really knocked me off. On the last hour of lecture, my head gone blank, totally wiped out. the lecturer just throw us a formula and ask us to calculate...
We were all stunned for some while...
I was staring at the lecturer...
lecturer stares back at me...
I ASK YOU ALL TO CALCULATE! not just STARING AT ME!
luckily, a top student saved us...
Hopefully you all got it right... because this is just a SIMPLE question
a MORE SOPHISTICATED ones will out in MID TERM TEST !
muahahahaha!!!!
the evil laugh of hers..
(p/s): gonna start study before get myself killed during the tutorial.
